TOYSREVIL Counts Down To #STGCC: 4 Days

I cannot begin to tell you folks the sheer panic and horror I had felt the past day and a half felt, when my internet connection was down. Depending on my mobile phone to check Facebook, twitter and instagram were the only activities i could have done, amidst missing deadlines for starting a contest, ending multiple contests, and submitting "deliverables" (the result of which I hope will not miss the STGCC deadline…).

And that's just me NOT setting up shop at this weekend's STGCC! I seriously do not know what I would truly feel, if I actually were …

And so to you, my dear friends who-would-be-vendors; Don't Get Caught With Your Cyber-pants Down, folks! (like me hahahaha) and get your cyber-promos out and about, and soon too!

TOYSREVIL Mascot Project 2013 Reveal: Art by Ario Anindito

Indonesian illustrator Ario Anindito offers a glimpse at a hybrid organa x android at a devious TOYSREVIL mascot, that perhaps sulks in the dark shadows of industry, while waiting to pounce on injustice (or at least I think it is hahaha)

This design will be part of a series of stickers featuring curated artists depicting the TOYSREVIL-mascot, which will debut circa STGCC :)

Voting for Max Toy Co's KAIJU GALS Begin Now!

"Kaiju Gals" is a kaiju design contest by Max Toy Co - showcasing the submitted kaiju-designs (all manner of cute-or-creepy) from 7 x Magnificent Woman Artists. The artist with the most votes will have their design turned into a soft vinyl figure to debut April 2014 in Japan!

You are able to both VOTE for your favorites on this dedicated Facebook album, as well as leaving a comment in this particular blog-post (One vote per person please. Multiple votes by the same person will be considered VOID).

ABOVE DESIGNS BY: Naoko Shinpo is an artist who designs characters and produces animal ears. Naoko started her career in Tokyo but has recently moved to Osaka.

She works as an office worker and also manages an alternative space called FIGYA located in Konohana, Osaka. Naoko gets lost easily and wants to play the tambourine often.

ABOVE DESIGNS BY: Miroc Kodachi was born in the summer in Tokyo. Miroc is a Leo as the sign of the ZODIAC.

As a Japan based artist, Miroc is active not only in Japan but also abroad. Her specialty is a style called “JAPONISM,” which shows her own world view and reminds viewers of the modern Showa era of Japan.

Currently, Miroc is active in illustrating a novel, drawing characters for games, designing applications and more.

ABOVE DESIGNS BY: Born in Kanagawa, Japan and undertaking High School and College in Sydney, Australia, Teresa Chiba is a tireless artist who has been working under the studio name of Production_Genmu based in Tokyo, Japan.

She has released her artworks in numerous mediums such as YUKATA (kimono for summer), fashion accessories, graphic designs, packaging designs, art direction and live performance.

Many of Teresa's artworks have been inspired in the motif of KABUKI (Classical Japanese dance-drama). She calls herself a KABUKI-OTOME-ESHI (Kabuki girls illustrator) who express the romance of a girl's inner strength, weakness and determination.

Available @ STGCC 2013: Original Comics, Badges & Limited edition Tees from Ario Anindito

With the earlier teaser image Indonesian artist Ario Anindito shares with us the full cover-image for his original comicbook "M the Assassin" - along with peeks at what else he will be making available at this Artist Alley booth at STGCC this coming weekend!

Do note that the "M the Assassin" features full color on the cover and black-n-white interior art, and there's a free sketch for the first 5 buyers!


Check out Ario's limited Avengers series collectible badge set. There will be 8 badges in a set, (pictured only 6, the rest of the two is Hawkeye and Nick Fury). There will only be 15 sets available.


Tees from Ario will be "limited", featuring a sketch series of the Avengers: Black Widow, Nick Fury and Loki, and as well a full color "M the Assassin" tee. Ario also mentions that there will only be 12 tees available (3pcs each design). No prices mentioned for each of these items, but be sure to tell him TOYSREVIL sentry shopping! MUAHAHAHAHAHA

TOYSREVIL Mascot Project 2013 Reveal: Art by ZiQi of Monster Little

Starting today, I will reveal the images from invited artists, of their rendition / depiction / adaptation of the TOYSREVIL-mascot - one each day - until all six have been revealed, and ready to be launched at the coming weekend's STGCC, as purchasable stickers! And while I do not have a booth, I'll have them with me in my trusty backpack, as I wander the convention aisles covering the event! As well I will be making them available to purchase online via the TOYSREVIL-Shop, so everyone over the world can enjoy them too!


The first design to be revealed today, comes from ZiQi Wu of Monster Little - going beyond his usual comfort zone with a depiction slightly more "aggressive" ("claws" and all heehee), but still in his kawaii-style1

ZiQi currently has a Facebook Contest with TOYSREVIL with postcards and buttons up for grabs (Ending Tuesday August 27), and as well check out his booth G28 at Artist Alley at the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention 2013 (August 31st to September 1st, 2013), within Hall B & C, Level 1, Sands Expo & Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands. About That Kaiju Tripus Resin Head Sculpt from Mark Nagata

Looks like the Alien XAM sculpt I featured earlier, may not be the ONLY resin head to make it's way to the Monster Kolor show launching september 14th! Take a gander at this spectacular KAIJU TRIPUS from Mark Nagata of Max Toy Co (who sculpted it himself), and I love it! am personally liking the more 'aggressive' vibe his creations have been headed lately, like the the more bulked up Kaiju Eyezon.

Blade Runner's "Rachael" Painting by VECTORSCUM

Here is a closer look at "Rachel" from local artist Drayson Phua aka VECTORSCUM - of his painted canvas - last seen in 2009's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? @ The Substation (alongside two other canvases, of Deckard and Roy, seen directly below - both of whom have already been spoken for), inspired by the classic sci-fi "Blade Runner".





I cannot describe to you my surprise and joy or receiving and beholding this (thanks Drayson!), and appreciation that this is an actual painted canvas, and hardly a "digitally printed canvas", and I am gratefully humbled and thankful.

Drayson has not painted any canvases for quite a while now, having to concentrate on his design work for VECTORSCUM. Here's hoping we'll get to see more of his "leisure" work in the near future!

3D Sockeroos by Roomism @ STGCC 2013

Roomism offers up 3-dimensional figurines of her "Sockaroos" sock/bunny-creations, with a previously pre-order, now collectable at STGCC next weekend. Here's hoping there'll be some extras for sale at her booth F36 in Artist Alley. Loving that the figure's textures look like fabric socks haha!

Fio, Sakura Fio and Phio each measure 8.5 cm x 5cm x 3cm, and are 3D-printed in full colour sandstone with high resolution ZPrinter. Pre-order price was SGD$60 for self-collection at STGCC. Check out other products available at Roomism for STGCC here.

"Army of Monkeys" by Army of Snipers Revealed! (#STGCC 20130

Previously featured as WIPs, "Army of Monkeys" by Army of Snipers has been revealed in it's final finish! Looking like they have been unearthed from centuries of idoltry, I am truly liking these series. And as well an all-original piece debuting at STGCC is always a treat!

Luke Chueh's "Look No Evil" sees his eyeballs plucked from their sockets and in his hands, along with a "new" sculpted-signature in lieu of his bear-symbol. Angry Woebots' "Hear No Evil" rocks the headphones to drown out the noise of the devious world, while J*RYU's "Speak No Evil" sees his simian counterpart being chained and silenced by his much loved ghost girl.



Produced by Silent Stage, look for the "Army of Monkeys" at next weekend's STGCC via the Army of Sniper's booth! (Neither quantity nor prices are as yet revealed)

I like this category, as it focuses on the quality of make, versus a solely aesthetically-based consideration(s). Giving gravitas to and beyond the moniker of "toy", this is indeed an industry-grade award to receive, IMHO.

And while sadly I have none of the items in my humble collection (except for a Deadbeet from Scott Tolleson and sculpted by George Gaspar), and hardly able to discern accurately, the paint applications, the sculpt reproduction, all the flaws and perfections - thy humble judgement is now to be decided by "product images" seen online.

Remember creators, a good decent clear product image DOES make a difference!

In an ideal world, I would be able to own all of these (pipedream, I know, I know) … Another possibility is an actual display at a physical place (ie; Clutter Gallery ;p), where items are on show and can be pawed and gawked at by the invited judges … but of course I am squared away in Singapore, so that's a bust for me anyways! LOL

BTW, this is a closed category to the voting public, with the winner to be decided by a select judging panel instead. Best of luck to everybody, nevertheless!

Available @ #STGCC 2013: Rhoald Marcellius & Dika Toolkit "Bone Head" Prints

It is with no small claim that I need to be bringing a poster container with me to STGCC next weekend, what with the amount of prints I have been gawking at (I gawk at most of what I post, thank you very much muahahahaha), I think I will be spoilt for choice, regardless of my financial inability to sate all my desires LOL

Adding to this fervor, are prints from Rhoald Marcellius (www / @thepumpkinbear) - with the spectacular sneak-peek imagery featured above, and from Dika Toolkit (www / @toolkit04) seen below with his rendition of Machine56's BONE HEAD PROJECT. I have prints from both gentlemen bought from Star Wars Day Jakarta (alas I did not get their signatures :/), and I dearly hope to add these to my humble collection!
